Toshimichi Moriya
Deputy Commissioner, Japan Patent Office


Mr Moriya is Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO).  As head of the JPO examiners, his current role is supervising the examination and appeal services.  Prior to assuming his current position, Mr Moriya was Director General of the Appeals Department. In his career of more than 30 years at the JPO, Mr Moriya has held various other leadership positions, including Director of the International Affairs Division and Director of the Patent Information Division, in which his roles were coordinating the international relations activities of the JPO and managing the utilization of patent information.
